Here at in-toto Brighton we’re getting an increasing amount of interest in open-plan kitchens; kitchens that are designed to be part of a living space. An open-plan design is a fantastic opportunity to blend features into your living areas, and create a comfortable and usable space for cooking, dining and socialising.
Let us take you on a tour of the open-plan kitchens in our studio.
Our Alva and Elea display (pictured above) incorporates a dining table, expanding the kitchen into a dining area. This looks great because the same palette of colours and finishes is maintained throughout both spaces - in this case, the table is the same Barrel Oak-effect as the wall units and cladding panels. The low-level drawers are perfect for use as benches, and offer extra storage too.
Our high-gloss White Vitus display shows how a breakfast bar can be used not only to transition between a kitchen and living area, but to expand on the materials in that space too. This breakfast bar, made from solid wood by Spekva, has a beautifully tactile surface thanks to its river-washed effect. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a coffee, whilst working around the kitchen and living area, and its colours are matched in the open shelving built into the wall units.
Our Graphite and Light Grey display is designed as two runs, with a peninsula bridging the space between kitchen and living space. The hob and preparation space are both located on the peninsula – perfect for a social cooking experience. Open shelves and display units help to soften the transition between living and kitchen spaces, and are an excellent location for cookery books. The breakfast bar is formed by overhanging the thick Dekton worktop, giving the whole peninsula a solid, chunky look.
